Could you offer a friendly chat, a little company and a listening ear to someone who may be feeling lonely or isolated due to sight loss?
Detailed description
PE6 – Older gentleman lives on his own and only gets out of the house for medical appointments, would like a weekly visit from a volunteer for someone to chat too and some companionship. Used to travel.
CamSight is looking for volunteer befrienders in communities across Cambridgeshire. Just a small amount of your time can make a huge difference to an older adult who struggles to stay connected.
As a volunteer befriender, you will:
• Offer regular companionship through friendly chats
• Visit someone at home
• Build confidence and connection with a person who truly appreciates your time
You do not need any specialist experience. We are simply looking for kind, patient and reliable people who enjoy listening and chatting.
This role is:
• Flexible and built around your availability
• Usually one visit week or fortnight
• Matched to someone local to you
• Fully supported by our team
