Cambridgeshire Deaf Association (CDA) has supported Deaf and hard-of-hearing people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for over 100 years. Through our community services, we help reduce isolation, overcome communication barriers and improve wellbeing. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping people stay connected, independent and supported.

About Cambridgeshire Deaf Association
Cambridgeshire Deaf Association (CDA) has been supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for over 100 years.
Our services help people overcome communication barriers, reduce social isolation, build confidence and stay connected to their communities.
Volunteers are a huge part of what we do, and there are several ways to get involved.
Our volunteering opportunities
Deaf Community Befriending
Provide companionship and support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing people through regular visits, video calls or social activities. You don't need to know British Sign Language (BSL) to get started, and there are opportunities to develop your communication skills along the way.
Hearing Help Befriending
Support older adults experiencing hearing loss who may be feeling lonely or isolated. Volunteers offer friendly, one-to-one companionship through home visits, walks, telephone calls or social activities.
Hearing Help
Help people maintain their NHS hearing aids at our community drop-in sessions. Volunteers provide basic hearing aid maintenance, replacement tubing, batteries and a friendly face to those who need support. Full training is provided, so no previous experience is necessary.

Who can volunteer?
We're looking for people who are friendly, patient, reliable and enjoy helping others.
You don't need previous experience for many of our roles. Whether you enjoy practical tasks, having a chat over a cuppa or supporting people in the community, we'd love to hear from you.
Even a few hours of your time each month can make a real difference.
