About Curiously Divergent
Curiously Divergent is a neurodivergent-led organisation focused on inclusion, coaching, workplace assessments, and advocacy. We support neurodivergent individuals and organisations by creating environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves.
Role Summary
As Volunteer Treasurer, you will manage our financial records, support budgeting, and help make sure our money is handled responsibly and transparently. You will work closely with the Director and advisory team, translating numbers into clear insights that guide decisions.
Responsibilities (What You Will Do)
Must do (essential):
- Keep accurate records of income and expenditure.
- Reconcile bank statements, monitor cash flow, and flag issues.
- Produce concise monthly or quarterly financial reports with explanations in plain language.
- Help prepare annual budgets and forecasts.
- Support preparation of grant or funding applications with financial data.
- Ensure compliance with any legal or financial regulations applicable to our structure.
- Attend quarterly advisory meetings (online) and contribute financial perspective.
Nice to have (but not mandatory):
- Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Previous involvement in nonprofit or social enterprise finance.
- Comfort with forecasting or scenario modelling.
What We Expect (Work Style & Environment)
- Flexible scheduling: We care about results over fixed hours. You choose when you work, provided you meet agreed deadlines.
- Remote work: Most tasks are done remotely. There are no requirements for onsite presence, though you may choose to meet in person occasionally (if local).
- Communication norms: We will agree on your preferred communication style (email, chat, voice, etc.). You’re welcome to request accommodations (e.g. asynchronous check-ins, agenda in advance).
- Sensory / environmental considerations: If you prefer to work without distractions (e.g. quiet mode, limited notifications), that is fine.
- Clarity & structure: We will define what “done” looks like for tasks, provide templates and examples, and check in with you to reduce ambiguity.
Who You Are (Skills, Attributes)
You may be a good fit if you:
- Are comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, or financial records (you don’t need to be a professional accountant).
- Are organised and attentive to detail.
- Can interpret financial data and translate it into plain language for others.
- Are willing to learn new tools or systems (with support).
- Are aligned with neuro-affirming, inclusive values and respectful communication.
- Are reliable, open to feedback, and comfortable asking questions when something is unclear.
You don’t need to check every box — if you read this and think you can do this role (with supports or accommodations), please apply.
Time & Commitment
- ~2–4 hours per month (may vary), flexible in when you do the work.
- Participation in 4 quarterly meetings per year (online).
- Deadlines and deliverables will be agreed in advance.
What You’ll Get
- A meaningful role in a neurodivergent-led organisation with real impact.
- Experience in nonprofit finance and social impact.
- Flexibility, trust, and space to contribute in a way that fits you.
