Volunteer Role: Research & Policy Volunteer

Organisation: Curiously Divergent CIC

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Hours: Flexible – approximately 2–4 hours per week

Reports to: Director / Volunteer Co-ordinator

Curiously Divergent CIC empowers neurodivergent individuals and the communities around them through advocacy, coaching, workplace inclusion, and education.

We take a whole-life approach to inclusion addressing barriers across employment, education, and daily life and we centre lived experience in everything we do.


Role Purpose

The Research & Policy Volunteer will help strengthen Curiously Divergent’s advocacy work by gathering data, insights, and evidence to support our campaigns and community projects.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys research, writing, and analysis and who wants to contribute to systemic change for neurodivergent people.

You’ll help us turn lived experience into evidence that can influence local and national policy, shape inclusive practice, and amplify neurodivergent voices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research current policies and practices related to neurodiversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Gather data and insights from community surveys or interviews.
  • Support the development of reports, position statements, and funding applications.
  • Track trends and changes in education, Access to Work, and disability rights policy.
  • Summarise key findings in clear, accessible language for blogs, newsletters, or campaigns.
  • Contribute ideas to strengthen Curiously Divergent’s evidence base and advocacy approach.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong research, writing, or analytical skills.
  • Interest in neurodiversity, inclusion, and social policy.
  • Ability to interpret information and summarise key points clearly.
  • Collaborative and open to feedback.

Desirable

  • Experience in policy, education, social research, or public services.
  • Lived experience of neurodivergence or disability (personal or family).
  • Confidence using digital tools (Microsoft 365, Google Docs, ClickUp).
