Christmas Hearts Campaign

Written by Denise Flintoft

We are looking for keen crafters to help us in our Christmas Hearts Campaign. ðŸŽ„♥

During Christmas 2022, a volunteer made some hearts for the Garden House Christmas Tree. A year later, one of our Street Chaplains saw the hearts and asked if some could be made to give out on the streets of Peterborough. The volunteer and Julie (Volunteer Co-Ordinator) made 100 hearts and the Street Chaplains gave them out just before Christmas 2023. The hearts had a card attached telling the recipient that 'they are not alone and are loved by God'.

Last Christmas, 120 hearts were created by 12 volunteers. Before they were given out, the hearts spent a weekend on a tree at the All Saints Church Christmas Tree Festival. Giving out the hearts in Peterborough City Centre was pure joy, so many people were touched to be given this small gift.

With the help of Light Project Peterborough volunteers as well as volunteers from churches in Peterborough, we also provided another 200 hearts to be put in Christmas bags for Asylum Seekers which contained socks, gloves or hat and food snacks.

The vision for Christmas 2025 is to have 1000 hearts to be given out on the streets of Peterborough. If 100 people make 10 hearts we will have 1000. Would you like to help or do you know someone who could help? If yes, then please get in touch with Julie [email protected]
