Summary

We're looking for writers, researchers, archivists, designers, web specialists, arts practitioners and more to join our mission - to teach the world to listen!

Detailed description

Dame Evelyn Glennie is the world’s first full-time solo percussionist. Her Foundation builds on a lifetime of her experiences as a profoundly deaf musician, harnessing her unique understanding of the importance of listening to help others develop the ability to listen with purpose.

The Evelyn Glennie Collection is a unique repository of thousands of career-spanning artefacts - professional appearances, musical scores, correspondence, photographs, audio and visual recordings and of course, a vast collection of 3,500 incredible percussion instruments from around the world.

The Collection is the Foundation's main asset. We will use it to work with schools, colleges, national charities, community groups and many others. As a Collection Volunteer you'd play an invaluable role in helping us to bring this incredible resource to life for our partners and the people we support.

If you're inspired by this get in touch - we have a range of needs and are also open to hearing what you would like to bring to our work.

About The Evelyn Glennie Foundation

Listening is our USP - a skill integral to all walks of life and an activity that never sleeps. We all listen, but do we do so wisely? To define listening through the ears alone is limiting, to define it through our presence enables genuine change.

Created by Dame Evelyn Glennie, the world’s first full-time solo percussionist, our Foundation builds on a lifetime of her experiences as a profoundly deaf musician, harnessing her unique understanding of the importance of listening to help others develop the ability to listen with purpose.
