Do you love meeting people and making a difference? We are looking for a volunteer to help us at local events to promote volunteering and the organisations.

This role is all about getting out and about to promote the Fenland charity sector, sharing how Support Fenland can help, and highlighting the value of volunteering. All information and resources will be provided, and you will have a supported learning period linked to upcoming events.

Over time, you will represent the charity at events with other volunteers —running stalls, talking with members of the public, and helping raise awareness of local charities and volunteering opportunities.

Examples of the types of events you may support:

  • Educational settings – career fairs, sixth-form information sessions, etc.
  • Town fairs and fun days
  • Job events

This is a super social role, where you will be out in the community and surrounded by people. You get training and guidance throughout your time with us and supervision with a member of the Support Fenland team, going out on your own only when all parties feel ready.

Things to keep in mind

  • You will complete relevant online training, so access to the internet is required (a computer is preferred for ease).
  • Most events take place on weekdays between 9:00 and 17:00. Plenty of notice will be given.
  • If you are only available at weekends, please still get in touch as occasional weekend opportunities arise.
  • You will need to be able to carry boxes, flyers, and a banner, so a reasonable level of physical ability is required.
  • You will need to travel across Fenland, and therefore your own transport will be needed – however, all travel costs will be reimbursed.

About Support Fenland

Support Fenland is a five‑year funded project delivered by Support Cambridgeshire. Its aim is to help build a stronger and better‑supported voluntary and community sector, with greater confidence and improved connections, so organisations can achieve more positive outcomes for their communities. A key part of the project is helping organisations and residents across the district learn about local volunteering opportunities and understand the benefits of getting involved. This project is funded thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund.
