Go out into Peterborough, locate rough sleepers, build trusted relationships and report back so we can get wellbeing packs to the right people.

Help4Homeless is a youth-led charity founded in Peterborough in 2025 by a 17-year-old who noticed a man sleeping rough under a bridge and wanted to do something real about it. We deliver £10 wellbeing packs containing warm socks, hygiene items, snacks, hand warmers and hot chocolate directly to homeless people in our city.

As our Community Outreach Volunteer, you will be the human connection between Help4Homeless and the people we exist to serve. You will head out into Peterborough - particularly the city centre - to locate people sleeping rough, introduce yourself and Help4Homeless, and build genuine trusted relationships with them over time. You will report back to us on who you have met, where they are, and what they need, so we can make sure our packs reach the right people at the right time.

This role is about human connection above everything else. You do not need any qualifications or experience - just compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to make a difference to people in your community.

What you will be doing

Going out into Peterborough to locate and connect with rough sleepers. Building trusted, respectful relationships with homeless individuals. Reporting back to the Help4Homeless team on numbers, locations and needs. Representing Help4Homeless with kindness and professionalism at all times. (Founder will join you as much as possible, especially when approaching rough sleepers).

You will be supported by Tom, our founder, throughout. This is a genuinely impactful role at the heart of what we do - without outreach, we cannot get packs to the people who need them most.
