Summary
Connecting with community members and helping to inspire others to be active members of the local community. Helping to promote initiatives.Detailed description
The difference you will make:
The more people who know about our service, the more benefit there is to everyone in the local community. By helping us to spread the word, we can reach people who may need help but don’t know where to find it. Increasing our visibility and expanding our network means we will be more likely to reach people who may be isolated or too focused on treading water to look for support.
Typical tasks within this role:
Tasks will be allocated depending on the volunteer’s own skills, interests and availability. Tasks may include:
- Promoting upcoming events/initiatives within the local community and raising awareness of the project (e.g. handing out flyers, posting on social media etc.)
- Actively encouraging participation and co-production within the community
- Reaching out to local businesses and organisations for support
- Helping to run events
- Helping to recruit more volunteers
Who are we looking for:
We are looking for volunteers who may already have connections in the Dogsthorpe community, and have an understanding of the challenges people face as well as insight into how our project could make a positive difference to their lives.
We welcome applications from volunteers from all walks of life, with a variety of life experiences, including men and women from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and LBGTQIA+ communities.
This role would suit people who:
- Live in the Welland/Dogsthorpe area
- Can communicate effectively and enjoy meeting and talking to people
- Have the passion and commitment to help improve the quality of life for local residents
- Can demonstrate commitment and consistency along with patience and compassion
